Uwe Meusel begann während seines Musikstudiums mit dem Stepptanz. 1988 gründete er die Musical-TAP-Company, die sich bald zur reinen Stepptanzschule entwickelte. Er rekonstruierte über dreihundert klassische Choreographien und lernte mit fast allen Größen der amerikanischen Stepptanzszene, in den letzten 20 Jahren vor allem mit Sam Weber (San Francisco). 1995 initiierte Uwe Meusel die Gründung von German TAP, war bis 1997 erster Vorsitzender und von 2001 bis 2006 Präsident. Mit der Company und mit verschiedenen Partnern (u.a. Sam Weber, Vivian Kleiser, Andreas Dänel, Matthias Meusel, Bernd Dussler) tanzte er unzählige Show- und Galaauftritte (u.a. Festivals in Berlin und Heidelberg), wie auch Competitions im In- und Ausland (u.a. Deutscher Meister 1997). In den letzten 23 Jahren produzierte er 32 verschiedene abendfüllende Stepptanzshows mit über 60 Vorstellungen in verschiedenen Freiburger Theatern (u.a. ZMF´97 und ´99). Sein Repertoire umfaßt über 300 Choreographien. Uwe Meusel gilt als einer der führenden Steptanz-Experten in Europa. Er gibt regelmäßig Workshops im In- und Ausland. Sein leidenschaftlicher Unterricht achtet besonders auf saubere Tanztechnik des gesamten Körpers und musikalische Genauigkeit. Er beherrscht die unterschiedlichsten Stepptanz-Stile, und hat eine Vorliebe für melodiöse Jazzmusik. 2011 und 2012 tanzte er als Solist bei verschiedenen Aufführungen des Sacred Concert von Duke Ellington (zuletzt im Juli 2012 im Auditorium Maximum der Universität Freiburg). Seit 2011 ist Uwe Meusel auch wieder als Sänger und Gitarrist in verschiedenen Freiburger Kneipen zu sehen. 2015/16 spielte er in der musikalischen Komödie „Frisösen“ in der Alemannischen Bühne mit. Im Herbst 2016 produzierte er die CD „Mario Hene … im Portrait“. Seit 2017 arbeitete er vorwiegend an der Veröffentlichung von The Sound of Tap – Tap Dancing on Record (1926-1965).

Uwe Meusel studied music and theatre and started tap dancing at the beginning of the 80s. He soon began to teach and in 1988 founded the Musical-TAP-Company, a studio devoted to the art of tap dance. He has reconstructed more than 100 classic choreographies and has studied with most of the American tap greats, working regularly for the last ten years with Sam Weber (San Francisco). In 1995 Mr. Meusel spearheaded the founding of „German TAP“ and has been its president from 2001 to 2006. He also supports the ITA as its German representative. With his company and in collaboration with such diverse artists as Sam Weber, Vivian Kleiser, Andreas Dänel, Matthias Meusel, Bernd Dussler and Dunja Lenz he has performed in numerous shows, galas and festivals. During the last 20 years Uwe Meusel has produced 30 full-length tap shows in various theatres in and around Freiburg, and his repertory includes more than 300 choreographies. Uwe is also one of the leading tap dance historians in Europe, with one of the largest archives. As a teacher, he possesses a thorough knowledge of dance technique and musical theory and pays precise attention to rhythm, phrasing and terminology. Uwe is versed in all styles of tap and is featured regularly at workshops in Germany, France and Italy. 2011 und 2012 he danced as Solist at various Presentations of the Sacred Concert by Duke Ellington. From 2011 Uwe Meusel started again performing as singer and guitarist. 2016 he produced the CD „Mario Hene … im Portrait“. From 2017 he focused on his upcoming publication The Sound of Tap – Tap Dancing on Record (1926-1965).
